ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the authors propose that ethical leadership potentially evolves through a series of hierarchical stages. Using the work of Lawrence Kohlberg and other developmental psychologists we posit a series of stages that some, but not all, ethical leaders may progress through. The authors provide vignettes, sample reasoning at each stage and conclude with applications of the model to real world situations and the development of ethical leaders.
