The University and the Settler Professor

This chapter traces the colonial history of the university from central Africa to the Moorish occupation of Spain, where the institution was appropriated by the Holy Roman Empire. This contested history is examined in the light of desettlering the university as implicated in the colonial projects of human enslavement and land theft. Finally, we examine whether the university and the university professor can be held accountable for this history in materially meaningful ways.
