ABSTRACT

Relevant topics for shop floor stakeholders may include data collection, analysis, control practices, issue escalation, personnel changes, process changes, performance results, and employee engagement in productivity improvements. In manufacturing, a stakeholder can be company’s employees, management, customers, or suppliers. Employees are one of the company’s most important assets and greatest competitive advantage when empowered under the right working conditions. Leadership and management must embrace people, treat them with respect, train and develop them, mentor and coach them, recognize and reward them, and teach employees the ways of the company. They must provide a clear vision and direction, create a cooperative and collaborative working environment, and strive to motivate and incentivize employees to do their best work every day. Employee satisfaction changes as different generations join the workforce and major world events shape people’s perceptions of what is possible.
