ABSTRACT

Agile originally started as a project management methodology in response to a need to be more flexible and responsive to changing customer requirements during the development process. It requires constant stakeholder engagement and collaboration throughout the project development phases. Agile was born from a Manifesto compiled by software industry leaders in 2001 to articulate better ways to develop software. The application of agile practices on the shop floor is not typically a common occurrence since volume production is built on standard processes and procedures to achieve consistent and predictable output. Agile requires team planning and re-planning as more information becomes available from reviews and frequent deliveries. When communication becomes a critical part of daily work, efforts should be made to bring people together, even if only for a brief period, especially when agile decision-making is required to advance a project or complete a critical assignment.
