ABSTRACT

The variety of programs that were introduced to help children and the number helped are indicated. The most effective strategy for changing mothers’ behavior for child survival is the combination of human capital (women’s aides) and social capital (health committees/councils) while the most effective strategy for changing mothers’ knowledge is human capital (women’s aides) or household visits. Thus, the best strategies for safe motherhood and child survival are different, as they are also different for behavior and knowledge.
