ABSTRACT

This chapter critically explores how IBF are at the juncture of the climate, ICAO and IMO regimes, elaborating on the interaction among these regimes in terms of norms and institutions, and highlights the main tensions surrounding the regulation of this overlapping area. In order to map the interaction among the selected regimes, this chapter aims to understand how overlaps and connections between the selected regimes occur, through what means (both in terms of hard law and soft law), through what channels (both formal and informal), what type of interaction takes place, and whether it entails tensions and leaves room for synergies.
