We give a different proof of Hitchin’s result: a correspondence between SU(2)-monopoles and solutions of Nahm’s equations. We also prove that this correspondence gives a hyper-Kähler isometry between the monopole moduli space and the space of equivalence classes of solutions of Nahm’s equations, equipped with their natural metrics. Such a result was conjectured by Atiyah and Hitchin.
