ABSTRACT

Motivation is a term used to describe the "why" of human experience. It is an abstraction, covering the broad causes of behavior as well as explanations for various types of acts taking place in either social or isolated contexts. Although motivation cannot be readily separated into primary and social motives, it is convenient, nevertheless, in dealing with the problem of motivation to consider incentives for behavior that come from the social environment. For the child to come to know about his world and to learn the many skills required for living in a complex society, a willingness to seek and to deal effectively with new experiences is essential. The concept of achievement motivation is not easily defined; thus, it has not been used as a unitary concept in research studies. The concept of achievement motivation at least can imply motivation to accomplish tasks.
