ABSTRACT

The lecturer has the main task to transform, develop and disseminate his knowledge through education, research and community service. At this time, lecturers only focus on educational activities, while research activities and community service have not been optimal. The purpose of this study is to examine the extent of the role of achievement motivation and leadership on the performance of lecturers. The method used in this research is quantitative, with sample of all lecturers spread in Private Higher Education of East Priangan, with proportional random sampling by using path analysis. The results of research show that achievement motivation with some indicators affect on the performance of lecturers. This shows that the role of achievement motivation, friendship and socializing is very important to improve the performance of lecturers. The study also reveals that lecturers have not been optimal in conducting research and community service among others.
