ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors offer some new exercises to help us further explore the inner landscape of kindness and compassion with the help of imagery. We can imagine it flowing from another person towards ourselves, or from ourselves toward another person, or even from one part of us to another part of us. The authors further expand on how we can cultivate an inner helper. They give examples of how we can offer some playful mindful movement practice during a session. The authors map out attributes, skills and the atmosphere that supports compassion in the Lotus of Compassion. They discuss how we can embody compassion with the help of imagery and expand familiar mindfulness practices, such as the body scan, mindful moving and mindful walking with kindness practice.
