ABSTRACT

The amount of information about museums and museum training has increased substantially during the past two decades. For a number of years, there was little written material available to aid museum workers or those interested in entering the museum profession in gaining greater understanding of the scope and detail of museum work. In recent years that situation has changed. Numerous publications are being produced that give detailed commentary on the general and specific workings of museums. No single book can give complete insight into this subject, and none should be viewed as providing all the answers.
