ABSTRACT

Next-generation 5G networks are expected to offer new capabilities such as virtual reality, data-driven computing, advanced cloud applications, low latency, internet of things, and thus, fully connected society. The reflection and external quantum efficiency measurements indicated that silicon photodiodes with photon-trapping structures can exhibit broadband high efficiency and high speed for ultrafast data communication applications. Quantum communication is predicted to be the most secure technology for data transmission. Communication has been one of the game changers in the history of humankind. The quality of communication networks has become a significant indicator of advancement in technology. The sensitive photodetectors have been used for various other applications such as light detection and ranging systems and fluoresce spectroscopy measurements for biomedical applications, where they take advantage of the low-light-level sensing devices. Security in data transmission is an increasing concern, as more devices are connected to the internet and people rely on these systems more than ever for their daily tasks.
