ABSTRACT
The structural beliefs of a religious system are outside time, but in other respects they are barely separable from the narratives that explicate them and integrate them with other aspects of the religious system. In this chapter we shall see that the use of the narrative mode is a fundamental and ubiquitous characteristic of human social life.
