This chapter presents a comparative overview of the National Sustainable Development Strategies (NSDS) of Italy and the UK. While tracing the evolution of these strategies, it pays particular attention to the extent to which national governments’ agendas have been shaped by the EU political priorities and goals, and to the way in which these countries have developed their governance architectures in view of the EU sustainable development principles.
