ABSTRACT
This chapter is the third of four which unpack each of the sections of the SRCL framework. This chapter focuses on the Consequences of Reacting to a Situation and are the ways in which teachers try and manage the search for equilibrium. Teachers used inquiry and questioning about their situations to formulate approaches that could be enacted in an attempt to achieve pedagogical equilibrium; however not all situations resulted in a sense of pedagogical equilibrium being achieved. This chapter unpacks three themes which characterise Consequences: Deliberation, where a course of action is considered, tried and results in equilibrium being attained; Reframing, when further trial and error is required; and Reframing with Persistent Unrest, where the challenge to equilibrium is ongoing, and needs to be managed rather than alleviated.
