Nature conservation in towns and cities

During the past 20 years the conservation of urban nature has taken its place as an integral part of nature conservation in the United Kingdom. A relative latecomer on the scene, it has provided a new set of objectives that are very different from the more traditional approach to conservation, with its emphasis on the protection of key sites and rare species.
