ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The emergence of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) teaching approach has been in response to be English language needs of learners in accordance with their profession or job description. This paper focuses on the importance of considering students’ needs and objectives from the ESP courses of the midwifery students in Indonesia. Some graduates of the ESP program are willing to work at the international hospitals and will be required to communicate in English for being a midwifery. This paper reports on the process of identifying the target needs of ESP for midwifery students. The finding shows that the lecturer is enabled to choose those kinds appropriate techniques and methods in teaching ESP for midwifery students.
