ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a quick reference guide to support women and babies during the postnatal/neonatal period. Alongside the initial examination after birth and the check undertaken by the paediatric team (or appropriately trained midwife) babies are regularly examined during the postnatal period. This usually takes place during the same visits as the postnatal check for the mother. The chapter also provides several lists that cover aspects of both the initial and subsequent examinations. It presents list of procedures for performing neonatal examination. The chapter provides step-by-step processes for students to follow, and is ideal for professionals to share with the women and families in their care.
