ABSTRACT

Our first task in this chapter is to create user accounts and assign permissions to the user accounts. Manually configuring IP addresses for the computers on a network can be time consuming. To reduce the time spent on IP address configuration, this chapter introduces the DHCP service, which automates the IP address configuration process. The name service is a key component for accessing the Internet. To access a Web site, we must know the name of the Web site, which is related to the IP address of the machine hosting the Web server. This chapter will discuss the configuration and management of a DNS server, which is used to resolve the IP address for a given name or vice versa. This chapter will provide more hands-on practice than the previous chapters. The hands-on practice includes setting up the administrator account, DHCP service, and DNS service.
