ABSTRACT

The concept of “Indo-Pacific” is the most popular diplomatic term in the field of international relations in the past 20 years. It has changed from a vocabulary in Japanese politicians’ speeches to a regional and geographic concept adopted by many countries, integrating geopolitics, maritime security, development economics, ethnology and many other subjects. The conceptualization of the “Indo-Pacific” is a complicated historical process. Geopolitical scholars are arguing whether the world today is the “Pacific Era”, the “Chinese Century”, or the “Indo-Pacific Era”. Therefore, this research will mainly focus on the role of the India, Japan, China, or even European countries which cannot underestimate in the Indo-Pacific, which explores the new trend of strategy in Indo-Pacific in the future.
