ABSTRACT

Greg Mark is the President and CEO of Markforged, a company that manufactures 3D printers for industrial applications. An MIT-educated engineer, Greg Mark founded Markforged in 2013 with the goal of reducing the time between design concept and the production of a strong, functional component. Originally started on his kitchen table in Cambridge, the company now employs 150 people in a 1950s-era, one-story, 32,000-square-foot building at the edge of an industrial zone in Watertown, Massachusetts, just west of Boston. In this interview from 2017, Greg Mark touches on many of the themes explored in this book: the advantages of an urban location, the essential features of his factory, and the role that government can play in reducing risk for a manufacturer.
