However, as the journal Nature states in its article ‘Masculinity at risk’ ‘this will not be the first occasion when a presumed link between an environmental contaminant and a risk to health has melted away on close investigation’. Based on such thin evidence, it concludes, it would be self-defeating to push for an outright ban of an oestrogen-disrupting pesticide like DDT when we know for sure that many people are dying from mosquito-transmitted malaria.
