ABSTRACT

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a complex phenomenon which has not yet been fully elucidated. Whilst rare cases of sponta neous OHSS can occur for example in molar pregnancy1 or as a result of gonadotropin recep tor abnormalities2, it is primarily an iatrogenic condition. It is incumbent therefore upon the practitioner supervising the risk-causing treat ment to ensure that the recipient is fully informed of those risks and that they are kept to a minimum.
