ABSTRACT
Since ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a relatively uncommon complication, there is a paucity of data on methods to prevent or treat this complicated syndrome. The data that do exist are hampered by small numbers and lack of adequate control groups. This situa tion has led to a difference in methods of man agement between centers. In the United States, there are two primary methods for management of established OHSS. This chapter discusses these two methods and their underlying ratio nales. Methods to prevent or reduce the inci dence of OHSS are also discussed.
