ABSTRACT

The chapter introduces various decision-making theories with a focus on Multiple Perspective Strategic Decision Making (MPSDM). This latter theory is considered interesting to apply as a framework for the decisions that lead to workplace strategies. Indeed, it includes a vast spectrum of stakes, as it considers Personal, Organisational and Technical perspectives and invites to an iterative approach. The chapter proposes three main components of MPSDM: (1) characterise workplace problems; (2) simplify the problem; (3) create strategy from analysis. Each component can be accomplished by the application of common methods that are inspired by related disciplines, such as design thinking, policy making, etc. The advantages of adopting the MPSDM approach in both research and practice include a better identification of workplace stakeholders, the systematization of workplace objectives by combining conflicting scopes and the elaboration of shared workplace strategies based on an interdisciplinary approach.
