ABSTRACT

Biophilia’s premise is that humans have a strong relatedness to nature. Natural influences can be described in different categories which are implemented in biophilic design. The effects of exposure to nature are associated with positive mental and physical reactions. These effects can be measured in various ways and are part of a transdisciplinary context. Despite the fact that the exact extent of the hypothesis is still not conclusively defined, the evidence for its effects is very convincing and usable for workplace design. The implementation can be simple and cost effective but can at the same time be related to significant positive results for individual well-being as well as for business objectives
