ABSTRACT
The major issue in terms of security in power system is congestion management. This is the condition when economic dispatch of the system gets changed in order to stabilize the system. The main reason for congestion in transmission networks is due to violation of some power system constraints. The occurrence of congestion effects transmission pricing and thus decreases the overall efficiency of the system. That is the reason why it is very important to manage congestion and also to charge the network consumers who are responsible. In this paper considering the importance of congestion pricing in power system a comparative analysis is presented of the application of PTDF (power transfer distribution factor), which was earlier taken as a sensitivity factor and established Bialek’s method in Indian Utility 146-Bus system.
