ABSTRACT
At present, the failures of gas insulated busducts (GIB) are due to several issues based on the dielectric property of the insulation gases and solid spacers. In this paper, the Lichtenecker Rother mixing formula is used to calculate the permittivity of the spacer material in a GIB. To improve the dielectric property of the insulators different filler concentrations of polymers like carbides, oxides and nitrates are combined with epoxy. The calculation of permittivity of the spacer material is done with boron carbide, silicon carbide, boron nitride, aluminium nitride, silicon nitride, titanium dioxide, aluminium oxide, magnesium oxide, silicon dioxide and zinc oxide and the results obtained are presented and analysed.
