ABSTRACT

A specific feature of the USM HALLER MINI-MIDI-MAXI prefabricated modular steel construction system, designed by the Swiss architect Fritz Haller, a pupil of Konrad Wachsmann, in collaboration with the engineer Paul Ulrich Schärer, is its potential adaptability and versatility intentionally programmed over time. The same architectural thinking, building logic and materials, spans three different technological thresholds, building scales and programmes: houses, schools and factories. Wohnhaus Schärer was the first private house built with the USM HALLER stahlbausystem MINI.
