ABSTRACT

This paper deals with an ensemble of brick vaults in the Alfonsina Tower built in Lorca Castle between the middle of the 13th and the beginning of the 15th centuries. These vaults are built using a system of brick slices arranged according to two different patterns or bonds, rhomboid and rectangular. The study analyses the geometry and constructive organization of the vaults and connects them to other similar ones which belong to Eastern and Byzantine architecture.
