ABSTRACT

The article first discusses the importance of Circular Economy. The importance of waste management in the context of environmental protection has been emphasized. The importance of the choice of manufacturing technologies and materials used for the implementation of the Circular Economy is presented. The issues of necessary investments, legislative and organisational works have been discussed. The next chapter discusses the Circular Economy system in Poland. The fundamental aspects, which would accelerate Poland’s path towards the Circular Economy, are described. The importance of actions taken by the government, local authorities, shareholders and mutual cooperation between companies is highlighted. The next chapter presents a concrete example of implementing Circular Economy in the Polish mining sector based on the example of KGHM Polska Miedź. The research objective of this chapter is to analyze assumptions and solutions related to Circular Economy in the largest Polish copper mine. The next chapter discusses implementation tools that support the transformation process, such as: proper credit risk assessment, using indicators that measure the degree of project compliance with the model of economic, social and environmental benefits, project finance instruments. The last chapter is a summary of considerations.
