ABSTRACT
Factor analysis (FA) is an important statistical method that is often misused by novice researchers. In this chapter, we highlight a step-by-step procedure for conducting FA (both exploratory and confirmatory) with example R codes for empirical application in the field of education. We believe that the lessons gleaned from this tutorial will be useful for students, researchers, practitioners, and professionals across several disciplines, and will help correct some misconceptions about FA.
