ABSTRACT

The development and growth of the students, who increase every year, at the Junior High School (SMP), related to the COVID-19 pandemic and learning activities, must continue to be carried out. It is necessary to redesign the learning methodology for efficient learning. Until now, the design only focused on improving the class according to the capacity of students. The benefits of this design can be used by the school as a guide in designing classrooms with the aim of holding face-to-face learning as well as maintaining health. In addition, the design is also needed so that the layout can provide fulfillment of health values, especially those related to the needs of the new normal in teaching and learning activities. This research and design were carried out using a case study method at the Firdaus Open Junior High School in Arcamanik – Bandung. The final result of the design produces an alternative floor plan for the entire room consisting of a classroom, teacher's room, and custom furniture adapted to the results of the analysis of seating needs determined from user behavior during the pandemic and after the pandemic.
