ABSTRACT

The use of certain language structure patterns is based on certain motifs which represent the speaker's ideological representation. It can be found in Kike Wadatsumi no Koe book, a document collection written by Kamikaze pilots. This study aims to describe the forms and functions of the Japanese pilot's resistance ideology that constructed the text structure of Kike Wadatsumi no Koe's discourse within the CDA framework. The three-dimensional concept of CDA Fairclough is used to examine the construction of the resistance ideology concept. The representation dimension presents a description of the author's psychological condition, the relation dimension presents the facts of the relationship between the author and the characters, and the identity dimension is indicated by the pronoun ‘I’ which refers to the author. Besides, the use of enclitic ‘I’ indicates the author's personal identity while the use of plural personal pronoun ‘we’ or ‘our’ is to attract the reader.
