ABSTRACT
Conducting research into research. That is Daan Andriessen's primary task. At the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, he has been researching the methodology of practical research for eight years. Design research – in all its variants – is an important movement within this research. In the chapter “Research Into Research,” Andriessen describes the development of design science research, which focuses on developing real solutions to pressing problems. In doing so, he asks himself how design can be used more effectively as a knowledge-generating activity. His personal challenge is to get design science research recognized as a scientific approach in the social sciences.
