ABSTRACT

A survey is a research method to collect information from a predefined population. It is the most frequently used instrument in the Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) of built spaces to gain insights into characteristics, quality, and usability topics through data collection from occupants. This chapter discusses critical issues in survey design, implementation, data analysis, and outcome interpretation and communication. It presents examples of this ‘traditional’ method to embrace new technology and innovative research design. It continues to be a powerful research method and a versatile tool for performance diagnosis and understanding workplace occupants’ perceptions and experience in POE practices
