ABSTRACT

Tourism is one of the sectors that can equalize regional development. One of the attractions in Malang City, which is currently undergoing development, is Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan. This tourist destination was only established in 2018 and inaugurated as the heritage center of Malang Raya. This research is essentially considering that this village is still relatively new as a tourist destination. This study aims to analyze the socioeconomic impact felt by the local community since the development of Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan. The results of this study can fill in the gaps in information related to the socioeconomic impact of the development of Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan. The research data was collected by conducting semi-structured interviews with seven tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis) and the local community. The collected data are then analyzed using an interactive model and refer to the theory of rational choice. The study results indicate that Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan has an economic and social benefit on the community; namely, it can increase people's income through various business opportunities and village infrastructure development to meet tourism needs. For further research, it is recommended to conduct a study in sustainable management from the social aspect.
