ABSTRACT
Chapter 15 presents an analysis of the advancement of task and process automation in the textile industry. The chapter commences with an examination of the evolution of sewing machines, beginning with the simple, modified models that were redesigned to complete basic tasks such as buttonhole sewing and button attachment. The chapter then analyzes more complex operations, including pocket sewing and tape attachment. The second part of the chapter focuses on both 2D and 3D free-path sewing, outlining the machinery required and the current limitations. The chapter concludes with a synthesis of the contents and findings, along with a brief outlook on future developments.
