ABSTRACT

Documentation is a first step for the conservation of monuments and historical sites. Photogrammetry is a kind of the metric survey, and it has been applied to the many sites for the documentation. It has been developed in making topographic maps from aerial photographs historically. Stereo-photogrammetry can record the objects as three-dimensional (3-D) data. In this study, a few cases of digital photogrammetry with close-range photographs will be introduced. First Case is an earthen material in historical Buddhist monastery with a hand-held camera, second case is building stones which compose dry dock, and third case is artificial stone construction of lumberyard with quad-copter drone. UAV and SfM/MVS are very useful techniques for the documentation of monuments and historical sites.
