ABSTRACT
This book project was started by Catherine Régis and Jean-Louis Denis, two scholars from the University of Montreal and the co-leaders of the HAICU Lab, and Atsuo Kishimoto, an academic from Osaka University and one of the Lab members. From the onset, they were joined by Maria Axente, a pioneer practitioner, in the United Kingdom, in the field of responsible AI in industry. The HAICU Lab was founded by the U7+ Alliance of World Universities, an organization that includes more than 45 institutions from 20 countries across 6 continents. The lab’s mission is to encourage collaboration between academia and public institutions, firms, and civil society organizations. Its aim is to develop human-centered responses to the significant challenges and opportunities brought about by the implementation of AI in our societies—in essence, to promote the creation and application of human-centered AI (HCAI).
