ABSTRACT

This study aimed to look at distance learning policies from Sadd al-Żarāi’ point of view. This policy was taken by the government not long after Covid-19 hit the country. Problems also arise, many are in favor of the policy, but not a few are against it. The reasons for these opponents are varied but generally relate to the level of effectiveness of the learning model which is not optimal. This research is qualitative by using the ushul fiqh approach, and the existing data is presented in a descriptive-analytical manner. The results of this study reveal that the distance learning policy set by the government is not contrary to Islamic law. According to Sadd al-Żarāi’, this policy needs to be taken and implemented by the whole community, especially students. This is nothing but to prevent greater confusion if other policies are implemented, such as face-to-face learning. The mafsadah in question is the threat of safety that leads to death.
