ABSTRACT

Halal certification is essential as it serves as a medium for strengthening the Muslim consumers’ faith and serves as a sign of assurance that the goods produced are religiously compliant, safe, and hygienic. Therefore, Brunei Darussalam takes initiatives to improve its halal certification system by developing its halal matters, halal certification process, laws, and regulations. For that reason, this study discusses the development of the halal certification system from its establishment till now. Hence, this discussion aims to explore how halal is governed and practised in Brunei, with a focus on the halal certification system. The methodology used in this study was extracted from a review of relevant papers, journals, proceedings, and books. According to the study's findings, halal certification is being established by the current situation.
