ABSTRACT

Carbon dioxide is the most emitted anthropogenic gas, related to human activity. The reduction of its emission is achieved by increasing the efficiency during the step of production, processing and use of goods. In the case of the energy-intensive industry, the methods that allow for significant reduction of CO2 emission into the atmosphere are storage, and especially utilization. The chapter describes the values of carbon dioxide emissions from selected energy-intensive industrial sectors along with the purity of CO2 contained in the flue gas. The purity of carbon dioxide that is necessary to be able to use it as a subtract in selected processes is being specified. The difference between the expected purity of CO2 as a source of carbon and its concentration in raw flue gas is being the subject of the description of one of the methods for capture and purification – adsorption method.
