ABSTRACT

Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept and a paradigm that considers pervasive presence in the environment of a variety of things/objects that through wireless and wired connections and unique addressing schemes are able to interact with each other and cooperate with other things/objects to create new applications/services and reach common goals. The European Commission considers that IoT will be pivotal in enabling the digital single market, through new products and services. The IoT is a key enabling technology for digital businesses. The IoT applications are addressing the societal needs and the advancements to enabling technologies such as nanoelectronics and cyber-physical systems continue to be challenged by a variety of technical, institutional, and economical issues. Wearables are integrating key technologies into intelligent systems to bring new functionalities into clothes, fabrics, patches, watches and other body-mounted devices.
