ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the methodology developed and used to obtain the elements of the REMPARK system devoted to monitor the related PD motor symptoms. The monitoring part basically consists in the waist-worn device and its embedded algorithms for the analysis of the PD patients’ movement and gait. During REMPARK project, specific tasks were devoted both to the collection of clinical information and to understand aspects that may be relevant for the REMPARK system. These tasks were carried out during the first months of the project through the administration of two questionnaires addressed to patients and related professionals. The main objective of the REMPARK project is to obtain a system capable of assessing PD motor and non-motor symptoms. This is a clinical goal that is intended to be solved through technological solutions.
