ABSTRACT
Finance is a key resource that facilitates the acquisition of human and material resources for the provision of health services and social welfare. Health facility managers are required to manage financial resources effectively and efficiently for the achievement of health facility objectives. However, health facility managers face challenges in managing finances. This chapter gives a brief introduction to health financing and financial management. Next, the chapter presents typical challenges related to finances in the form of a scenario. Lastly, the chapter demonstrates how to use the practices and principles of leadership and governance to address the challenges in primary health facility settings.
