ABSTRACT
In the context of the global vigorous advocacy of “carbon neutrality”, the development of energy-efficient, low-cost, zero-emission advanced renewable energy electrolysis hydrogen production technology will become the key to achieving “carbon neutrality”. The use of renewable energy to electrolyze water to produce hydrogen is considered to be the technical route of hydrogen energy in the future, and the development of PEM hydrogen production technology with low energy consumption, high current density, and fast dynamic response has received widespread attention. This chapter briefly introduces the basics of PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production technology and comprehensively reviews the development of catalyst, proton exchange membrane, porous layer, bipolar plate, membrane electrode assembly, and sealing technology in PEM electrolysis water hydrogen production system. In addition, the existing challenges and development directions of PEM water electrolysis hydrogen production technology were also discussed.
