ABSTRACT

An in vivo study was done to determine the effects of using various levels of cassava leaf hay and pineapple wastes in complete feed on feed intake and digestibility. The materials used were cassava leaf hay, pineapple waste, cassava waste, copra meal, cassava meal, mineral mix, and molasses. Forty-five crossbred Brahman heifers were used and given five treatments with three replications. The feed treatments consisted of T0 (cassava meal 25% + pineapple waste 20% + copra meal 10% + cassava waste 10% + cassava leaf hay 30% + molasses 5%), T1 (cassava meal 25% + pineapple waste 20% + copra meal 15% + cassava waste 10% + cassava leaf hay 25% + molasses 5%), T2 (cassava meal 25% + pineapple waste 20% + copra meal 20% + cassava waste 10% + cassava leaf hay 20% + molasses 5%), T3 (cassava meal 25% + pineapple waste 20% + copra meal 25% + cassava waste 10% + cassava leaf hay 15% + molasses 5%), and T4 (cassava meal 25% + pineapple waste 20% + copra meal 30% + cassava waste 10% + cassava leaf hay 10% + molasses 5%). Data on nutrient feed intake and digestibility were analyzed using a randomized block design (RBD). The results showed that T4 tended to give the best results on DM and OM Intake.
