ABSTRACT

Tahilalats is a comedy comic strip written and drawn by Nurfadhli Mursyid. This comic was first published on Twitter and Instagram in 2014. Interestingly, some of their meanings lead to multiple interpretations among readers. This research is qualitative research that first groups the Tahilalats comic strips that are considered “multi-interpreted” as well as plot twists, then examines the comments section and looks for how meaning is built from these comments. This research employed the methods of observational, interviews and literature study data collection. The results indicate that the plot twist or multi-interpretation portion in the Tahilalats comic strip. Based on interviews with informants, none of the meanings incorporated into netizen comments are deemed the most correct, yet it is precisely the pluralism of meanings that makes the Tahilalats comic strip not just interesting, but also interactive.
