ABSTRACT
Recognizing that sweet pastry and ceramics are referential elements of Portuguese culture, this study aims to identify the ceramic objects still in use in sweet pastry. Observing them from the point of view of preparation, baking, and presentation, these objects will be identified based on research conducted by Cristina Castro on sweet pastry across the Portuguese territory. Once the objects are recognized, they will be observed for their characteristics which will then be shared with three specialists: a pastry chef, a gastronome, and an anthropologist, to gain a deeper understanding of them. Once this study is concluded, from a design perspective, space will be given to reflect on the possibilities of finding ways to both reinvent and preserve Portuguese tradition, integrating ceramics and sweet pastry.
